I Am What I Am

I yam what I yam and tha's all what I yam!

I seem to be having a lucky streak at the moment.
Look what arrived today!
A week ago I won this cushion from Wonen Met LEF
after entering a giveaway organised by Désirée over at Studio Dees.

I have a feeling that it will end up in Dylan's bedroom but for the time being,
I think it looks rather nice here.

Thank you!

High Five #30

Launched at Baby & Kids Expo this month, Tuschinoco is a new company offering children's furniture and playground equipment made from reinforced corrugated cardboard.

The entire line of products, designed by Masahiro Minami, is fun, durable and recyclable, as well as being pleasing to the eye.

How can any kid resist an eco-animal chair or a huge tractor with a slide?

Three!

That's right! Three years ago I decided I needed to do something more creative, more me, so I typed those first words "Saperlipopette!" and Kickcan & Conkers went live. What a fun journey it has been!

Another 2,800+ posts and K&C is still going strong. Of course, blogging has changed a lot in that short space of time, and I have spread my wings... You will also find 'me' chatting, curating and sharing on twitter, facebook, tumblr, flickr and pinterest (which I love!), in addition to running an online shop.

I would like to say thank you for reading, commenting, sponsoring and supporting me. Un grand merci !  Blogging has changed my life in many ways (Repetitive Strain Injury might be one of them!), and I have met many wonderful, inspiring people both online and off.

Jess Quinn, doll-maker extraordinaire, was one of the first really original, outstanding artists I wrote about. I have followed her progress ever since and try to promote her work whenever I can. She is incredibly talented and hard-working, I'm sure you'll all agree. Jess has very kindly offered one of her new Molly Dolly dolls to celebrate these first three years and I think Honey Bee makes a perfect thank you present from K&C.

If you would like a chance to win this charming, purple-haired young lady, standing 20" tall and dressed in vintage cotton clothes, please leave me a comment below. The usual drill applies, anyone who relays the information via twitter, Facebook, pinterest, etc will get two names in the hat, providing they let me know!  This three-year thank-you giveaway ends on Monday 9th July, 6pm CET.

Good Luck!

Inspiration: Just So

Sometimes, you wait a while,
then the penny drops,
the puzzle fits,
click,
c'est ça,
oui,
that's it,
just like that,
just so.

Thank you for the beautiful shapes, colours and inspiration:

Sponsor Meet&Greet: Crafty Little Herberts

Ben Javens, Kate Hindley, Mrs Elliot Books and Karin Söderquist, I have featured them all on Kickcan & Conkers at some point, so what a pleasure it is to see one of my sponsors carrying a selection of their fine work.

Crafty Little Herberts (what a cute name!) is a small family-run online business specialising in one-off and limited-edition handmade and illustrated goodies for children. Louise, at the helm most of the time, strives to support British artists/illustrators/makers, and has curated a happy, colourful collection of original finds for your little ones' nurseries, bedrooms and playrooms.

Crafty Little Herberts' website is divided into four sections, Sew Up, Dress Up, Hang Up and Bind Up, and caters to all pockets. I love their selection of prints and books in particular.

Unfortunately, Crafty Little Herberts does not ship abroad so is only able to serve UK customers at the moment. They are working on this aspect of their business, however, and hope to be able to offer international shipping in the not too distant future.

You can follow Crafty Little Herberts on Twitter, Facebook and their Blog.

A new name to bookmark if you live in the UK.

P pour du Peps!

OK, it's colour my monday!
Let's get this show on the road with some inspiring images from two of my favourite artists / makers, Lieschen Mueller and Kinkong.

I love those new soft toys!

 Happy Monday!

Hand in Hand

Two brothers, Tom and James, working together, influencing other since they were small children.
Born in 77 and 81 respectively, both men were destined to be artists, as this very short, must-see video shows.

Their "worlds of experience" are very different; Tom & James Draw is an ongoing exchange between insider and outsider art, a unique collaboration between two brothers, two artists, one of whom has Down's Syndrome.

The brothers will be exhibiting their recent work, rich in colour and beautiful mark making, at the Sheffer Gallery in Sydney from 10th July onwards.

Few things are as inspiring as this, try and get to see their show if you can!
