To Be Perfectly Frank

Beautiful light and shadows.

Michael Anastassiades' exhibition at the Svenskt Tenn Store in Stockholm was one of the highlights of my trip to Sweden last week with Meet The Blogger. Clean, minimal and poetic, Anastassiades' new collection of furniture, lighting and accessories, inspired by Josef Franks' patterns and designs, will be on show at Svenskt Tenn until March 31. Certain pieces will be available in a limited edition in conjunction with the exhibition, while others will be included in Svenskt Tenn's regular range.

I'm not a great lover of brass, to be perfectly frank, but I was seduced. As you can see, Anastassiades' hanging plant installation was divine, and was well worth the visit alone.

High Five #63

Yes, they're here, the Hurbanos, exploring the city in their little cars and vans. They also like to walk or to use public transport, criss-crossing the town to discover new districts, meet new people and experience new lifestyles. 

Handmade in linden wood and painted and decorated individually with water-based paints, the Hurbanos love living in the city. They're the latest addition to one of my favourite makers' arttoy collection.

Inspiration: Staying In Stockholm

 

 

 

 If you ever decide to visit Stockholm, for a short business trip or a family holiday, I would definitely recommend staying at The Scandic Grand Central Hotel.

 

Quite a few of us stayed there during the Meet The Blogger event, and I think everyone was impressed by the service, atmosphere, design and location, right in the city centre, from where everything seems to be within walking distance.

 

If you remember, I was lucky to stay in room 4077, the Blogger's Inn, specifically designed by Tina Ramstedt for journalists and bloggers visiting the city. I sensed that bloggers are more respected in Sweden than in France, and I think the Scandic are hoping to develop this concept in other places (there is also a blogger's room in Gothenburg).

I'm taking my family to Sweden this Summer, so the Scandic will be an excellent option for us. It was the perfect venue for the Meet The Blogger Stockholm event anyway.

Babiekins Issue 11

 If you follow me on Facebook or Pinterest, you will already know that the latest issue of Babiekins Magazine came out yesterday. I hope you'll enjoy my finds, including this wonderful mural by one of my favourite children's illustrators Kelsey Garrity-Riley.

I would like to say a special thank you to the couple who commissioned Kelsey to create a mural for their little girl. I appreciate you letting us into your home and showing your daughter in her sweet room.

I have written several times about Kelsey's original work, and I'm delighted to hear that she's focusing more on kids' illustration and product design. If you like her style and are looking to create a mural or any other piece of artwork for your children, please don't hesitate to contact her, she loves commissions like this and it shows!

Vive Le Printemps !

I haven't been back a day yet, and all I can think about is Spring.

I have big plans for renovating our house and will be busy painting & decorating in the coming weeks (nay months...). There's lots to do here still, but my short trip to Stockholm has done me the world of good.

Time to pare down, again, freshen those white walls and start work on the garden.

I'm ready and willing to usher in the spring.
