Just Because...

Just because
I've been in a textile mood of late.

I thought I'd kick off this week by sharing these very sweet embroideries by Sydney-based New Zealand artist Katherine O' Hara. Discovered thanks to KinderGallery, a must-visit address if you are looking for special one-of-a-kind artpieces for your child's room,  Katherine loves breathing new life into vintage textiles, and I think her dainty little portraits fit perfectly into these framed antique doilies.
If you like her style, Katherine also trades under the name of 'alfafa', on etsy, selling similar, equally charming framed black and white embroidery work inspired by Joan Walsh Anglund's books.

Cute, colourful and creative - a nice start to the day!

Stitchin' & Sunshine

I've had yet another memorable weekend, enjoying the exquisite company of Lau, Myriam, Lydia (les copirates!) and Valérie yesterday. We spent the better part of the sunny day at a flea market in Villeneuve Les Avignon and all came away with some really beautiful finds. I am in love with my new well-worn, well-mended apron, antique wrist warmers and WW1 nurse's bag, adorned with handembroidered initials.

Summer Dream

Marie et Rose Alice have me dreaming today; I'm faraway enjoying emerald lagoons, long white sandy beaches and romantic sunsets, so perfectly captured by Eau de Nil. I guess I'm ready for the Summer.

High Five #65

Another High Five for soft sculptures today, this time crafted by the ever-inspiring textile artist Abigail Brown.

Abigail has been exploring the theme of Native American Indian Animal Mythology for this new collection, and has been experimenting with papier mâché to create her masks and a couple of her creatures.

High Five #64

My pinterest and twitter followers will already have seen these beautiful soft sculptures that I shared earlier this week. How I  love that moment when you get a new follower and click on their link to see more...

Alice Mary Lynch loves the poetry in everyday life. She has a rich background in fashion, having  lived in Paris for 9 years working as a designer for John Galliano, Christian Dior and Sonia Rykiel. Her fairytale world is full of stitching, beading and embellishment, and I have fallen in love with her Animal Cabaret, a collection of sparkling, whimsical characters with many a story to tell.

Pause for five minutes and loose yourself in her inspiring lookbook, dreams are made of this.

To Be Perfectly Frank

Beautiful light and shadows.

Michael Anastassiades' exhibition at the Svenskt Tenn Store in Stockholm was one of the highlights of my trip to Sweden last week with Meet The Blogger. Clean, minimal and poetic, Anastassiades' new collection of furniture, lighting and accessories, inspired by Josef Franks' patterns and designs, will be on show at Svenskt Tenn until March 31. Certain pieces will be available in a limited edition in conjunction with the exhibition, while others will be included in Svenskt Tenn's regular range.

I'm not a great lover of brass, to be perfectly frank, but I was seduced. As you can see, Anastassiades' hanging plant installation was divine, and was well worth the visit alone.
