Inspiration: Emmas Wolf

My "coup de foudre" of the week.

Yes, it was love at first sight when I came across these unusual papier-mâché works imagined by UK mixed media artist Colette Bain of Emmas Wolf. Inspired by folklore and the uncanny, her little animals are often housed in vintage tins decorated with pencil, gesso, acrylic paint and collage.
Quirky but endearing, I'm sure some of these creatures would look delightful in a child's room.

Colette doesn't appear to have an online shop but exhibits frequently in the UK. She is currently taking part in the 21st Century Farmer show at Unit 12 (runs till 30th Nov 2013).

Swoon

I Swoon for Swarm.

Yes, I know I posted some of Leslie's beautiful work only yesterday but this talented lady is full of surprises!

Check out all the new woven chairs she's added to her shop and this amazing portrait wall hanging.
It gives me goosebumps.

My Images of The Day

High Five #78

Guess what? It's Colour My Monday!
I love starting the week with something bright and cheerful.

Today's inspiration comes from Mié (Ito), a small French brand with simple, eye-catching designs (those masks!).

Entirely handmade from high-quality cotton, linen and wool (often organic and fair trade), Mié (Ito)'s new AW range looks fun, stylish and easy to mix and match. A few minimalist basics with a handful of colourful, versatile accessories is really all any child needs.

Red is going to be big I think, don't you?

Black is Black, I Want My Baby Back

Yep, we're definitely in a black mood at home the moment.
Dylan finished painting his bedroom this week, and Savannah's new black, white and grey space is almost complete. Oh my, pre-teens and teens, where did time fly?

Todays black & white inspiration comes from Swarm (Leslie is weaving on chairs now!), Christine Mausberger (thank you A Curious Work!) and Atelier SolarShop - I love everything they sell!

Inspiration: City Blues

Bright blue skies and the sparkling Mediterranean sea, nope,
Summer certainly isn't over here yet!

Sylwia and Dorota love blue too. They love colour full stop, I think.

I'm sure some of you will recognise the amazing plaited pillow I featured in my etsy guest pins. It's definitely on my home interior wish-list!

There's more to Taftyli than plaits though.

The Polish sisters recently introduced a hand-dyed, hand-embroidered city cushion collection inspired by monuments in their home town of Krakow. They're on my wish-list too, along with their hand-dyed light shades, a commission for a restaurant which they've decided to offer in a similar version on etsy soon.

These girls have a fresh eye and a passion for colours and textures. They have big plans for the future, and I'll be following their blog (in Polish but use Google Translate) and Facebook page from now on.

Love!

Those Three Rs

Yes, I'm back, after a busy week painting at home
(are you following me on instagram yet?).
My three kids are back at school, and I am back with my three rs once again

These "Ugly Toys" are anything but! 100% handmade in Poland by Dorothy Dziaki, each toy is wonderfully unique and 99% crafted from recycled materials!

Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

There, I said it again!

High Five #77

Sabine Timm's work makes me smile.
I'm smiling right now, in fact.
Did you know that you can buy some of her posters from Human Empire?
There you go, you're smiling too, I can tell...

I hit the 100,000 mark earlier this week.

Big smiles all round!
