Well, it doesn't take long, does it? As soon as the Summer sales are officially over, it's in with the Winter clothes, rows and rows of the latest woollies, hats, scarves and boots (!) despite the 34°C in the centre of Montpellier yesterday.
I'm not one for following fashion, personally. I used to be, in my London 'posey' theatre days, wildly, extravagantly so. However, as I approach my 46th birthday (argh!), next week, I am aware that my tastes have mellowed somewhat, influenced by "French Classics' and life in the country, sans doute.
Of course, the advantage of being middle-aged is that you know what really suits you, hopefully.
I've always loved buying vintage clothes and accessories from charity shops, jumble sales and flea markets, it's my thing, my style, I'm definitely not one for 'off-the-peg'.
It's certainly a wonderful place for inspiration (no, don't look at the price tags...)
I could fall for pretty much everything, I think.
Although I fear my days of strutting around in cashmere hot pants with wool ruffles are sadly over.
what a lovely, simple post. sincere.
ReplyDeletewell, happy next anniversary!!
today i turn 34 - should i try the mentioned hot pants??
:)
Go for it Stefania, early 30s is the best age, I think (so far!=.
DeleteI agree...nice indeed... maybe time to start using the sewing machine?
ReplyDeleteIf only I could sew Britt-Marie!
DeleteWow! Such a great collection! I agree, I would fall for almost everything, too. But, oh, I looked at the price tags...arghhhhh... ;) But anyway: wonderful inspiration! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery expensive, true, but window shopping is free and a wonderful source of inspiration.
DeleteMandula is one of my all-time favorites! Not to mention she's from Hungary!!! :D :D :D
ReplyDeletehugs,
agnes
:)
Not surprised Agnes, you have great taste!
DeleteLovely collection! Yes, I think I have passed the hot pants stage (I'm 38).
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess some people can pull it off no matter how old they are... a question of confidence or a well-toned derrière, ... gorgeous style though!
DeleteHaha! Yes, that's something that hits you at about 45, doesn't it? Well, at least, it hit me this year that cashmere hot pants were no longer a possibility ;) This label looks divine! Reminds me of another favourite that I have a few pieces of... Rundholz. Kx
ReplyDeletep.s. had a day out at the gallery with Mady from Abundance yesterday and we spoke of you and our envy at you winning Barbara Munsel's dress... It was so funny, we both said "Bloody Deborah!" at the same time :)))
I've built up a mental image of you as being someone quite rendy Kylie, mostly through the photos I've seen on your blogs. I'm sure you could still pull something similar off very well (the hot pants are for Twiggy-like twenty year olds anyway).
DeleteI thought my ears were burning yesterday...swearing about me, eh?
Barbara's launching another giveaway for some gorgeous crochet trousers, have you seen?
I love Mandula - I didn't realize it till this post then realized I've pinned their looks before, but the prices - yikes! I can sew a bit so I think I can make a canvas bag for less (and I have Chinese Mail sacks I got to make into pillowcases for my son!) I have been informed by a teenager that I am officially in my late 40's so I hear you on the hot pants, but I think I left the hot pant phase the minute I had children whether or not I could still rock them, it just doesn't seem right...
