Little Boy Grey

Ask me what my favourite colour palette is at the moment and I'll probably say black, white and grey. Contemporary, clean, no-nonsense.
I love this little boy's room with touches of red, so well decorated by Minna.

Take a look at the rest of her inspiring blog, time of the aquarius, it's addictive!

Jonna Saarinen

Yes, Summer's here at last!
Time to relax, enjoy the sun and visit
Selvedge's first Summer Fair

If you're lucky enough to be in or around London tomorrow, pop in and see Jonna Saarinen's work (she also happens to be sharing a stall with this talented lady, remember?).

Jonna Saarinen graduated from Central St Martins in 2009 and has just finished the first year of her Masters degree in Printed Textiles at the Royal College of Art in London. She was born in Turku, Finland, and much of her work is inspired by Finnish folklore, architecture and her childhood memories.

Screenprinting is her first love.
She is committed to creating sustainable, non-toxic products and is sponsored by Permaset

Jonna also enjoys making wooden jewellry, some of which will be on sale at Selvedge's Fair tomorrow.

Another one to look out for me thinks!
Have fun!

The Mussukka

I'd like to introduce you to pig, bear and hedgehog, three little friends affectionately known as the Mussukka. They have their own blog, so we can find out what they're up to at home in Finland and follow them on their travels too. It's a busy life when you're a Mussukka!

These three little friends have acquired a taste for travelling and are ready to explore new shores. They've made themselves into some super-sweet cards

hoping to fly off to homes around the world.

Tiring work though, all this travelling.

Better have a quick nap before they start!

B&W

I have been following Helina's blog for a while now and wanted to show you some of her beautiful work. A mother of three, this Finnish artist / photographer is a visual poet, posting original and inspiring snippets of her everyday family life. I have chosen a small selection of Helina's black and white work here but she also loves colour and I'm sure you'll appreciate her Flickr photo sets of kids, dolls & dolls houses and home life.

Réka Kiraly

Autumn Talk - Réka Kiraly

Good Morning Monday!

Glad to start a new week -

Take one 14 year old boy mad about BMX, stunts and cycling and leave him for a while in the country with his friends and what do you get? Six stitches in his chin and a broken hand needing a pot for three months!!! Au revoir le vélo...bonjour tons of unfinished homework and reports to write....for mum!

Which is why it's been a bit quieter round here...

Anyway, the weather's glorious (25°C), the kids have gone back to school and I have lots of finds to share, starting with Réka Kiraly's fun, colourful prints!

Hungarian-born Réka Kiraly lives and works in Helsinki. She has a very distinctive graphic style, combining bold lines and colour with imaginary creatures inspired by her everyday finds, long walks, the sea and Northern light. Her striking black and white patterns are ideal for young children,

lending themselves perfectly to colouring books

Watch out for Réka's new work, coming soon, and take a peek at her Spring sale. If you're looking for something different to decorate a child's room, now's the time to buy!
