Colour My Monday #24

 Happy Colour My Monday!

I know I wrote about Japanese illustrator/artist/designer Keitaro Sugihara back in 2010 but I love collage and I think his work is fresh, uplifting and inspiring. Exactly what you need to wash away those Monday morning blues and keep you feel upbeat all day long!

I'm smitten with these new-to-me animal collages, which you can buy as prints along with characters from his Awkward People series over at the Speak For Gallery's online shop

Needless to say, Keitaro's work is perfect for children, but would also add a modern, playful touch to any room in your home - I adore that pink polar bear, et vous ?

Inspiration: Vanilla & Blue

Beautiful vintage finds and beautiful styling.
Today's sunshine and Tara and Percy's skillfully curated shop have me dreaming of a Springtime palette for our home.
The soft pink and indigo trend is growing on me,
as you may have noticed here and here.
Vive le printemps ! and Jersey Ice Cream Co too.

High Five #8

And now for something completely different...

The 3 Ps: plants, paper-making and printing.

I think some of you may enjoy browsing Liz Lake's portfolio and blog. I came across this mandala-type paper and herb installation that she made after a one-month art residency on pinterest I think. Liz experimented with plants and recycled materials that she found at Cuckoo Farm Studios to make the paper and then ran workshops to share her paper-print-making techniques in exchange for herbs.

Miles has been learning about mandalas at primary school and I thought this was an interesting idea for an environmental art school project.

Have a look at Liz's handmade books and workshops/installations, her papercut slides for White Night are beautiful!

#FF - Farbe Friday

Fünf colourful finds for this bright and sunny Friday afternoon.
I thought I'd better start brushing up my German since I've been invited to speak at The Hive Blog Conference in Berlin soon (19-20th May).
Have you bought your ticket yet? I hope so, I'm looking forward to meeting you there!

Tchüss !

Inspiration: Hibino

Aiming to bring the spirit of Japanese design to the Israeli market, Hibino ("Daily" in Japanese) is a one-of-a-kind gallery store in the heart of Tel-Aviv. This unique address offers top-quality Japanese art, crafts, interior design, houseware and everyday objects (the stationery and spa/toiletries section look wonderful) in addition to hosting a number of exhibitions and workshops throughout the year.

Hibino looks to be a beautifully curated space and although they do not sell on line yet (send an email, perhaps?), I couldn't resist sharing images of some of my favourite children's products, including Katsumi Komagata's books (of course), Ryuichi Sakamoto's stick mobile and these very special embroidered deer balls that I would love to buy.

Yes, as William Morris once said,

Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful

High Five #7

Tiny creatures, tiny fairytales, tiny boxes
Welcome to Linda Sarah's ink & watercolour world

Tuning into the Veggie Beat

It's not the best photo, I'll grant you that, but I'm choosing Savannah's leek head as my image of the day.

Fittin' actually, as I came across a whole new world of veggie music yesterday and we had a little giggle at some of the videos that I found - pan-carrots, radish slide whistles and broccoli blowing, the possibilities are endless!

I don't think we're quite ready for the celery nose flute in our house, but you never know.
