A Small Treat

It's been a very long day here, nothing went as expected.
Miles has chickenpox, bless him, and we're all pretty tired.
Thank goodness for cheerful finds such as these illustrations by Julia Staite featured in the latest Small Magazine
Happy 4th Birthday Small Team, I love this new issue!
In fact, if you don't mind, I think I'll dive back in...

 Tootle-pip! See you all tomorrow.

Bewildered Tales

I love Kay Van Bellen's work (you may remember this?), so I was so pleased to see her getting the attention she deserves in Small Magazine last year.
Kay recently opened an online shop selling her beautiful Bewildered Tales art, screenprints, badges, stationary and this gorgeous tea towel.
Go have a gander and treat yourself to a little  something, I bet it will be the start of a very nice, affordable art collection...

Colouring in with Christina

If you read Small Magazine, you will have seen Christina Sitja Rubio's work featured in issue 13 this Spring. Christina was born in Caracas, Venezuela and studied Fine Arts in Montreal, New York and San Francisco. She trained as a printmaker and photographer but loves drawing and five years ago decided to trade in her camera for a pencil. I'm so glad she did!

Christina's portfolio and sketchbooks
are full of endearing, imaginary animals. Bears and birds appear frequently in her work (the bear is the symbol of Berlin, where she lives part of the year. She spends the rest of her time in Barcelona).

As you know, I'm always on the look out for unusual things so when I discovered Christina's bilingual (English/German or English/Spanish) colouring books I just had to share. Maybe you've seen them before? If you haven't, take a peek at these beautiful drawings, available here.

Christina also designs T-Shirts. This beautiful bird illustration is for her children's range.

Aren't these illustrations gorgeous? Perfect for a nursery.

I wish I'd known about Christina's calendar last year - I'll certainly be keeping an eye on her shop for 2011!

One to bookmark, me thinks!

Small - Summer 10

Have you seen it? The brand new Summer 10 issue of Small Magazine is now online and is chock-full of wonderful finds.

I love these new-to-me "Peepwool" folks created by Amy Arnold and am thrilled to see Hattie Newman and Laura di Francesco's work get so much well-deserved attention (remember? I featured them here and here).
So, if you haven't already seen it, get yourself a drink, sit down and enjoy - it's summertime...
I think?
