Julia Trigg

If you're lucky enough to live in or around Brighton, don't miss local graphic designer Julia Trigg's first solo exhibition at Castor + Pollux (18th September - 17th October).

Julia works digitally. She loves all kinds of typography-based ephemera but cannot bear to tear anything up for her collages. Her work is lively and colourful and it's easy to see how much she enjoys experiementing with scale, texture and composition.
Julia's "Signals" collection, shown above, is based on her collection of 1920's-1950's ham radio cards with inspiring woodblock type and handwritten messages.
A good excuse to visit Brighton don't you think?

Colour My Monday #4

Pepa Prieto

Good Morning !
It's Monday, I have a new look and I'm happy.
How about you?

It's going to be a busy week here at Kickcan & Conkers.
It's almost a year since I started this blog and I'd like to celebrate with the opening of my little shop for kids and the young at heart. No exact date yet but hopefully early next week.
Until then, let's travel the world and be inspired...

My first port of call is Denmark.
Rikke Storm is an architect, designer and illustrator living in Copenhagen.
Her personal blog Drawings By Numbers, is full of her own beautiful creations and other inspiring work, including that of her 12 year old son Aldus.

Do have a look, I'm know you'll love her taste!

See you soon, in India this time!

AQ-V - Vintage Americana

Love these fine art reproduction mini prints of original WPA artwork by AquaVelvet. The Work Projects Association commissioned various artists to create silkscreen, woodcut and lithograph posters during the 1930-40s as part of President Roosevelt's New Deal. Combining simplified graphic illustrations with bold, hand-lettered typography, they were both eye-catching and effective in promoting health and safety programs, travel and tourism, educational and cultural programs and community activities. Amy's repros are printed on archival bamboo fine art paper and have an ample white border for framing. Fabulous!

You can find out more about Amy Henderson /AquaVelvet here and by following her lovely visual language blog, focused on graphic design, illustration and typography. Amy is giving away this beautiful Montana print on her blog, but hurry, entries close at the end of August. Enjoy!
