Five Faves #46

Holiday time at last!

Dylan, Savannah and Miles broke up for two weeks on Friday and we celebrated with a long lie in, a leisurely breakfast and a slow, pleasant Saturday. Feels good!
Not so sure I'll be quite as fresh and upbeat tomorrow; it's almost 3 am here and I'm wide awake, beavering away.
I'll let you know if I find anything at the flea market in Montpellier, if I get up, I'm in the mood for some digging and delving - wish me luck!

Here are last week's Five Faves:

1) Favourite Handmade Toys, or should I say, Child's Accessory... - Varpu's felt houses

2) Favourite Craft Tutorial - Ann Wood's paper mache teacups, divine!

3) Favourite New Discovery - Lynn Jackson *

4) Favourite Children's Clothes - Bouille de Clown**

5)  Favourite Laughter  - So nice to see and hear you Ryoko Ishii!***

See ya later gaters!

Feeling crafty?

I've spotted a couple of really nice craft activities recently, and although it's probably too late for Christmas, you can always keep them in mind for rainy days, long winter nights and school holidays.
Claire (De Beaux Souvenirs), one of my favourite French artists / wirework makers, has just started selling some wirework kits enabling you to make your own wire photophore.

I also discovered yesterday via papier mache that Ann Wood has posted a downloadable tutorial of her papier mache boats!

And if you haven't already seen them, you can also have a go at making her wonderful cardboard horses.

Uno, dos, très

Three adorable, one-of-a-kind handcrafted rag dolls by the ever-so talented Eva a.k.a. Misako Mimoko. This Barcelona-based artist's work was selected for the new Whipup.net 2010 calendar together with pieces by a couple of my favourite crafters Margie Oomen and Ann Wood.

The calendar is available through redbubble for Australians and the rest of the world. And through lulu for US residents.

Tweet, Tweet

Lots of lovely little birdies around at the moment. Ann Wood and Tamar Mogendorff are obvious favourites - so amazingly talented and inspirational - but I also found these little beauties in the UK last week. Cotton Bird Designs crafts fabric and paper birds, wedding cake toppers, flowers and other textile pieces using recycled or vintage materials such as maps, music paper and lace. I love these little fellows, available here.
