Angels, Drums & Tambourines

I discovered Claire Fletcher's gorgeous handpainted tambourines at The Country Living Fair in London a few years ago. Claire had recently opened Made In Hastings and had a stand promoting her products made by local crafters, artists and designers. I can remember thinking what a great idea it was, and how I'd love to do the same one day...

If you are looking for a very special gift for a newborn baby, or a unique piece to display in a child's room, Clare's tambourines and drums are perfect. So very English. I love this modern, quirky design, found at Selvedge's Drygoods, and am equally as smitten with the nostalgic "Waves" shown above.

Claire has a rich and varied illustration portfolio, which I'm sure some of you will enjoy browsing. Have a look at her beautiful paintings, her products - the dolls, colouring books -  before popping over to Selvedge-Drygoods, Frank or  Made In Hastings to window shop or give into temptation.

W is for Wicker

Oh là, it feels like Summer here in the South of France.
Time to bring out the garden furniture and enjoy some sun.

It's also the start of the flea market / car boot sale season -  les puces / les vide-greniers - and if you're up early and have a keen eye you'd be surprised at the number of bargain treasures to be found, vraiment !

One thing I've noticed recently is wicker, it's everywhere, 60's and 70's pieces, pulled out of attics and cellars, dusted down, cleaned, restored and jazzed up with a few bright, often crocheted accessories.

Of course, not everyone has the time or the chance to scour flea markets, so if you're into the wicker / bamboo look for you and your children, check out shops like Wintersmoon  in the UK, Les Petits Bohèmes in France, and surtout Little Vintage, where you will find an impressive selection of kids' furniture and accessories in pristine condition.

Amusez-vous bien !

ABC-as Easy as 1-2-3

Simply beautiful!
Lucie Pritchard's screen printed fabric Alphabet and Number cards would look lovely grouped together in a nursery, don't you think?
