Seriously, ever since Marie tweeted to me about Marlee Grace's beautiful shop, gallery and residency space in Grand Rapids, USA, a short while ago, I've discovered so many inspiring artists and makers.

 

If you're like me and get excited about finding new, unique home goods, textiles, jewelry and clothing, or can never resist an original zine or good-looking card, you're in for a treat over at Have Company's online shop, blog, instagram feed and facebook page.

 

Marlee appears to have a knack for sourcing unusual, one-off items, made by hand by passionate creatives. Her bricks-and-mortar boutique is the kind of place I dream of doing my Christmas shopping in; somewhere small, friendly and very special, with a great sense of community.

Slowly Now.

Yes, I've been busy being slow this week...

My iphone has died, so no instagram for a while.

No pinning, no checking emails, no on-the-move connection, how can I survive?

After years of translating market research in telecommunications, and swearing that I would never ever grow dependent on a phone, I admit I suffered withdrawal symptoms the first few days. OMG, NO PHONE!

And then, I felt relieved, free. I've been getting up at the crack of dawn, going running, writing, working on the house, spending more time with my family and I am focused. I'm not sure how long this will last, but I am enjoying not being 24/7 right now.

Perhaps you should try unplugging this weekend and let me know how you get on?

Time to start thinking about Christmas? It seems a bit early but if you are looking for something a little different, from a foreign maker perhaps, last postage dates are often sooner than you think.

I have started adding some new ideas to last year's Christmas Gifts pinboard on pinterest, as well as my curating my own Please Santa wishlist here. Christmas is the one holiday I love, and I really enjoy looking for festive decorating ideas. Well Hello There November!

Yes, I'm back, rested, refreshed and a little bit more organized after a week's break with my family.

Thank you for being so patient.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how good it feels to step away from the virtual world to be 100% in reality for a while. Quality time, "me" time, "their" time, is so precious.

We spent the day in Les Cévennes region yesterday. My parents in law were celebrating their 63rd Wedding Anniversary and wanted to return to the village where their long love story began. It was also a chance for them to see old friends, visit their parents' graves and reminisce about growing up during the Second World War. A rich, emotional day for all.

I stopped and wandered in the small cemetry when we were there. I love French cemetries, and see so much beauty in these places, everytime.

 Well Hello Friday!

It's super sunny here today and my kids are playing outside in the garden with what seems like half the neighbourhood! I love Autumn days like this, cold and misty in the morning and bright and crisp in the afternoon. It's perfect weather for long walks in the woods, raking the leaves in the garden and curling up with a blanket, a good book and a coffee on the balcony. Ha! sounds like a plan,  I've got my weekend sorted then!

French school children are on half-term break right now, so it's been a bit slow round here this week. I've been busy elsewhere though, pinning, tumbling and blogging here and here. You can't keep me away from the web for long!

In keeping with the new simpler look of Kickcan & Conkers, I'd like to share some of my favourite "secret board" finds. I have lots, as you can imagine, but this collection of beautiful neutrals caught my eye in particular.

Calming, interesting, inspiring, I hope.
