Channel Hopping

I'm ready for a break
But which city should I choose?
A weekend in London or un saut Ă  gai Paris?
Maybe I could manage both?
Just hop across the Channel?
Or settle for a couple of Jane's new prints,

If you live in Paris or happen to be there during the Christmas holidays, why not take your children to  visit the MusĂ©e des Arts DĂ©coratifs, one of my favourite places in the city. I'm sure you and your kids will enjoy their current exhibition (on until 8 May, 2011), Vilac, 100 ans de jouets en bois, showcasing wooden toys made by the famous French toy company over the past 100 years.
Those of you who can't make it might be interested in the exhibition catalogue, a perfect gift for toy design lovers all over the world.

Shop Watch: Livette La Suissette

Keep your eye on Livette La Suissette. Livie Bélaz Lebeau has put together a small, colourful collection of practical home accessories with kids in mind. I love the hazelnut coathangers and this Paris kit, including a make-your-own Eiffel Tower, pretend metro tickets, a Tour de France cyclist and a beautiful screenprinted bag (temporarily out of stock).

Curious

I'm starting to get quite excited about my trip to Paris. If you remember, I'm accompanying Dylan for his one-week work placement at the National Film Institute (CNC) the first week in February. Although I lived there when I was younger, I'm looking forward to re-discovering some old time favourites and visiting some new-to-me addresses such as Tombees du Camion. I know many you will have already heard about this retro lovers' "Caverne d'Ali Baba" , but for those who haven't, take a look at these inspiring displays

I'd love to know if anyone's been. Is it really as good as it looks?

Pia Jane Bijkerk

Inspired by my first day back in France, I've decided to buy myself a copy of Pia Jane Bijkerk's first book Paris: Made by Hand.

Pia has also designed the front cover of another new book on a similar topic called The Flea Markets of France. I think I'll enjoy both of these.

If you haven't already visited this Australian stylist and photographer's blog house, take a peek now, you'll love it!
