Efvva

Polish artist Ewa Wrobel-Hultqvist's limited-collection of organic, handpainted T-shirts for little ones (3mths to 6 years) is unique, fresh and colourful. If you are looking for something playful, vibrant and off the beaten track, pay a visit to her blog-shop or etsy, and you might even be tempted to pick up something from her adult collection for yourself!

Thanks for the heads-up Elisabeth!

Are We Nearly There?

On the road & up in the air,
I'm like a five-year old,
Giddy with excitement.
Today's the day,
We go to England!

More fun work from the Polish design duo Toprojekt (mentioned here).
Have a look at their shop - their postcards, cards, prints, badges, mobiles and toys...
I think they'll go far!

See ya later alligator!

Shop Watch: Trzy Myszy

If you looked at my contribution to Tiny & Little yesterday you will have seen one of Trzy Myszy's cardboard toy castles.

I have known about this Polish company for over a year now and have watched it grow from strength to strength.  A small family-run business, Trzy Myszy started out with just a couple of simple, eye-catching kids' designs made from sturdy cardboard and have since expanded their catalogue to offer playhouses, cars, planes, dolls houses, clocks and other toys.

Customisable,  recyclable and good fun - exactly the way toys should be!

Magic Moments

I love it when I come across inspiring sites like
Czarodzieiska Projekt

"The Magic Way" (Google translation - named after the street where the couple live/work) is a fledgling art and design collaboration between husband and wife team Grzegorz Cholewiak, a Polish designer, and Lena Hensel, a German artist / sculptor. Their daughter Rosa seems to enjoy taking part too!

Modular, ecological cardboard furniture, designed by Greg, and enjoyed by Rosa, available from their blog / respective sites.

I featured Greg's Alize suitcase design last year if you remember. Lena's work is new to me, however.
I am very intrigued by her creations for the upcoming Drachenland (Land of Dragons) exhibition, opening 25th Feb at BWA Gallery in Sanok, in eastern Poland.

And think some of you will really enjoy browsing her portfolio.

A very happy find, don't you think?
One I will be following
Can't wait to see Lena's exhibition photos!

Don't forget my two giveaways this week - 1) a gorgeous paper cabin garland made by Chris Theiss for Hutch Studio and 2) three Papier Mache Print #1 magazines... not to be missed!

Mua Monsters

I spotted MuaMua Design's work earlier this year and love these big cuddly monsters.
Karolina Gościniak's soft toys are for sale in two shops in Poland and she will also be selling them online very soon.
Send her an email if there's anything that takes your fancy. Mua Monsters are fun, original and eye-catching, bound to please both young and old alike.

Shop Watch: Beetroot

Love Wallsticker - Magda Piwowar

It's no big secret that I love Polish design, I can't get enough of it in fact. I'm always featuring it on Kickcan & Conkers and have found some really nice things for my online shop.
I also love beetroot (I'm a veggie you see), so how I could not fall in love with beetroot online, a new Warsaw-based studio/store run by two Scottish lasses Helen and Louise (hey, I'm from West Yorkshire, so that's just North of the border, right?)?

Beetroot is committed to promoting contemporary Polish design outside of Poland and bringing fresh and exciting ideas to people all over Europe. Helen and Louise have invested a lot of time and energy meeting Polish designers and visiting cutting-edge design exhibitions, resulting in a beautifully curated collection of quirky, contemporary items for young and old alike.

Red Baba Mug - Katarzyna Herman-Janiec

Dancing Girls T-Shirt - Katarzyna Herman-Janiec

Palace of Culture Body - Katarzyna Herman-Janiec

Nodus Carpet - Aze Design

Krystal Lamp - Alexandra Adamczyk

Beetroot is also a supplier to retailers in the UK, so if you're interested in stocking any of their products I'm sure Helen and Louise would love to hear from you.

Enjoy!

Thanks Isabelle for introducing me to Beetroot last year and well done for the lovely photos!

Protein Design

Pleciuga - Chatterbox Toybox

Aren't these lovely? Both of these pieces are the work of Polish designer Katarzyna Herman-Janiec (Protein Design) and were made specifically for the Ethnodizajn Festival in Krakow in May. This year's festival participants were set the task of creating an object using long-forgotten techniques used by Polish craftsmen. Katarzyna's Pleciaki, made from newspaper, were inspired by traditional country baskets and fabric designs and can be used as seats, cushions or for storage. Her Pleciuga design is based on traditional rural dowry chests which have been given a modern, fresh look by adding wheels and handwoven colored paper.
Do have a look at Katarzyna's other fun designs, I think you'll like them too. You can order both of these products above by sending her an email.

From another time and place

Just a quick post this morning to show you these wonderful Polish cushions that I found last night. Gaul-Zych Deco have an amazing range of very affordable Folk-inspired designs and decorative pieces, available here and from their website. I love this little boy and girl from their Communist-era collection.
See you later!
