Protein Design

Pleciuga - Chatterbox Toybox

Aren't these lovely? Both of these pieces are the work of Polish designer Katarzyna Herman-Janiec (Protein Design) and were made specifically for the Ethnodizajn Festival in Krakow in May. This year's festival participants were set the task of creating an object using long-forgotten techniques used by Polish craftsmen. Katarzyna's Pleciaki, made from newspaper, were inspired by traditional country baskets and fabric designs and can be used as seats, cushions or for storage. Her Pleciuga design is based on traditional rural dowry chests which have been given a modern, fresh look by adding wheels and handwoven colored paper.
Do have a look at Katarzyna's other fun designs, I think you'll like them too. You can order both of these products above by sending her an email.
