Cornelia O'Donovan

Happy Monday Morning!

I thought we'd start the week with the jaw-droppingly beautiful work of London-based artist Cornelia O'Donovan (just look at that owl!!!)

Colour, paper, print and soft sculptures - parfait !

Cornelia is one of the 24 artists, designers and makers invited to create a square piece of textile work in red and white for Selvedge's first advent calendar. She came up with this wonderful, vibrant handprinted textile rabbit.

A poetic mix from technique and narrative, artist Geoff Grandfield describes Cornelia's work as "Silent narratives. The world as a stage. Just having fun with paper, pens, glue and scissors, the flow of images of character faces and figures, animals birds, flowers and abstract patterns".

Cornelia has recently opened a Bigcartel shop

where you can buy beauties such as this limited edition relief printed christmas angel pack,

and handmade hanging horse crafted from vintage recycled 100% cotton fabric.

If you'd like to find out more about Cornelia's work, visit her on Flickr and new website (when it's up and running)

Thanks to Camilla for the link, one of my favourite finds in 2009!
