Inspiration: Pattern Play

 

 

We're redecorating our kids' bedrooms at home this week, painting everything white, black and grey, as they ordered! I have to say I love all-white rooms with just a few bright touches here and there.

Colours, patterns and textures is one of my favourite moodboards on pinterest. I use it for collecting artwork, embroidery, fashion,.. anything and everything that catches my eye.

This morning I pinned a photo of one of Martha Clippinger's installations.

How nice it would be to do something similar in a child's space.

I'm sorry it's been so quiet here recently.

Only one more week before the kids go back to school here in France!

I am busy at home painting and decorating, whilst enjoying these last few days of summer with my family.

I hope you've all had a great weekend.

We nipped to the flea market this morning and found lots of really beautiful things.

Yes, I have to admit, although we're still enjoying beautiful hot weather here in the South of France, change is in the air. I love Autumn and I relish the thought of inviting some of these deep inky blues & dark turquoise tones in to our home.

I thought I'd kick off with something bright and uplifting today. 

 

See Saw Do

is a South African organisation dedicated to early stage development.

Husband and wife team Xanele (pictured below) and Jeremy Puren believe all children, regardless of their place of birth, should be given equal opportunities and environments in which to grow and learn. Their social enterprise is founded on the trasformative power of creativity and love.

 

 I hope these few images will inspire you to visit and follow See Saw Do's website, facebook page, twitter account and instagram feed (where I discovered xanele's work). 

The couple's organisation has transformed over 30 creches in Cape Town's underprivileged townships, helping to provide a more stimulating and happier environment for young children to learn and develop through play.
