Every Picture Tells A Story #13

My pic(k) of the day because I keep going back to look it time after time.

I want to see more now.  I want to take a peek at all of Helen's other rooms, sense all her other stories. I'm curious, aren't you?

Have you joined at{mine}, the new online community for home and design lovers yet?

Enjoy!

A New Leaf

Et voilà !

The end of an era - I closed my shop last night, and I'm excited to start a new chapter of my life online. I will be blogging daily, here and elsewhere, and I'm so looking forward to sharing all my new finds with you. Onwards and upwards, right?

K&C needs freshening up a bit, so I will be making a few changes over the next few weeks. I will be adding more fashion, design, interiors, as well as a handful of kids' posts, hopefully bringing the blog more in line with my tumblr Plumes & Feathers, my ello feed and my pinterest. I am also going to be working on our home and garden (olive harvesting soon), so you can expect to see more snippets of our family life here in the beautiful South of France.

Sound good? I hope so!

I'm eager to get back into blogging, back to where it all started.

This is going to be me looking for beauty, most of the time.

Let's go!

inspiration: At Ease

Well, what amazing weather we're having here in the South of France!
We spent the entire weekend outside, enjoying the sunshine and beautiful environment that we live in.

I know Autumn isn't far off, but right now it feels like early Summer.
Mmm, all those long, empty beaches - it's pure bliss!

So, a slow, casual, carefree start to the week.

Exactly the way I like it!

Bonne journée !

Kickcan & Conkers Closing Down Sale

Bonjour !

They're very sweet, aren't they?
As soon as I saw this old black & white photograph, I knew that these two  children would be perfect for my kids' design shop Kickcan & Conkers. I still have the original waiting to be framed some day.

As you probably already know, I have decided to close my shop in order to concentrate on new projects. I have really enjoyed curating K&C, and I am very pleased that I have been able to support so many young, original makers from around the world. If you follow me here and elsewhere, you will know how I go out of my way to look for and promote new talent. I love doing that and don't intend to stop!

The good news is that I will still be blogging here and in other places. I think I'll be blogging a lot more, in fact. I will be changing K&C slightly over the next few months, incorporating more fashion and interiors (have you seen my tumblr yet?), but intend to post about kids' design and other beautiful finds too.

Voilà - the closing down sale started yesterday evening and will run until Monday 28th September at midnight CET. I am offering a massive 60% reduction off everything (discount code : CLOSE)  and hope that I can count on you all to clear those virtual shelves. Christmas is just round the corner you know!

Thank you!

L'Age de raison

Experiences Not Things
That's my new motto.
I've said this before, before the older I get the less I desire.
Of course, by the time you reach middle age, like me, you have so much "stuff".
I want to pare down all that to the minimum; live simply again.
Less is More, it gives you freedom, I think.
It's almost the weekend and I can't wait to get outdoors, go running, swimming and enjoy some fresh air.

That's my plan.

Et vous ?

I hope you'll find the time to explore these inspiring image sources...

Bon week end !

Inspiration: New

 New
Nouveau
It's Time.

Time to move on,
Close doors to open others.
Time to think about Fall,
a new wardrobe, new hues,
new smells, new light.

I am enjoying our Indian Summer
but starting to think ahead.

new wire sculptures and styling are beautiful,
don't you think?

The Simple Things

The simple things,
Those are the ones that make my heart sing.

I have so many inspiring links to share after my two-month break.
Here are just a few examples of the beauty I love to explore:

Stuart Cairns -  this artist really makes me want to open my eyes, "faff" and be creative.
OmaOmaOpaOpa - an Ukrainian etsy store selling amazing textiles and unusual vintage finds.
Frau Klarer - because I never tire of concrete.
Wabi-Sabi Lithuania is my latest tumblr crush.

C'est beau, non ?

Inspiration: Balance Restored

Hello September!

I know, I'm late, half-intentionally.

Summer was good, really good in fact.

Loyal readers near and far, I really needed a break.

Like many of you, I have been online for a long time, and this spring I started to feel pretty apathetic about blogging because I guess I was in a rut.  Social networks are forever changing and many of us have decided to switch to instagram and pinterest for an instant fix of visual inspiration. I like this blog, I'm proud of it, and I don't want to just share images all day long. In June I came to the conclusion that I had been doing too much, writing for other sites, working on my shop, pinning, tweeting, tumbling, IGing, FBing, ello-ing... the list goes on. It was definitely time to hit the pause button, hence the sporadic, virtually non-existent posts.

So, we went on holiday. I spent two wonderful months with my family and friends. I went home, back to my roots, visited London, reconnected with my "old self" and enjoyed "being" offline.

I've made a few important decisions about my future.
It's good to have a new sense of direction.
I've found my bearings,
restored some balance

Ahhh
ça fait du bien !
