A Blue Thread

It was fun!

Now, I must remember to take my camera everywhere, keep my eyes open,
look around and appreciate the beauty of simple, everyday life.

Blues skies, blue sea - oh yes! Summer is well and truly here!

Thanks for the inspiration:

A-Travelling With Milk

If you hop over to Milk Magazine today you will find a big smiley photo of me in Berlin with Natascha Rosenberg, and an interview (in French) about what we'll be taking and doing for our summer holidays.

Un grand, grand merci à Sophie for inviting me. What an honour!

Rouge comme une tomate...

Yes, it's still hot here but not quite as unbearable as the past few days, thank goodness.
I've been busy looking through all my old photos and taking new ones too.
It makes a change for me to be doing something creative myself...
It's Red today over at Poppytalk, I hope you enjoy looking at everyone's contributions.

B for Brick Lane

The Queen's Jubilee, the Olympics, the Paralympics, it looks like London is the city of Summer 12, and what better way to mark the occasion than by buying a brand new children's book illustrated by talented UK paperartist/illustrator Kate Slater.

Written by James Dunn and published by Frances Lincoln, ABC London is a colourful, contemporary alphabet picture book featuring a selection of the classic and unique sites and culture that make London Town so special (I used to live in Greenwich so 'O for Observatory' is one of my faves).

I haven't seen a copy of the book myself but after seeing Kate's beautiful papercuts, collages and first book at the YSP a couple of years ago (even my husband wanted to buy a couple of her greetings card he was so smitten!), I have no doubts about the quality of her work in this publication.

Kate will also be presenting her first solo exhibition at the Jam Factory in Oxford this Summer, so if you lucky enough to live nearby, do try and pop in to support this much-loved children's illustrator/artist.

So Green

It has been incredibly hot here today, almost too hot for me, in fact.
Despite the heat I've been busy, working on various blog-related things.
I am sorry for the lack of posts.
The school run à pied can be a killer when the temperatures soar;
we walk silently, in single file, seeking respite in any shade.

Today I took my camera, to capture all things green. Before the sun shrivels them up.
I'd never realised how green my surroundings are, how alive, how beautiful,
simply so.

For "Colour My Monday" I am inviting you to join Poppytalk's Summer Colors Week.
I love colour and I love taking part in this online community event. Not because I am a skilled photographer, but because I like sharing and seeing snippets of people's daily lives around the world.

Enjoy!

High Five #29

 Small is beautiful!
I have fallen in love with the delicate, poetical work of French paper artist Isabelle Faivre.
Each miniature book is a work of art, a tiny treasure to read and display.
Have a look at her Alphabet and Number books in particular, the shadow effect is sure to delight young and old alike.

Un petit bijou !

Gone Fishing

Pinned, bookmarked then rediscovered on pinterest this morning, I think this is one of the  sweetest mobiles I have ever seen. This model sold but you can always send an email to the etsy seller, Made4youbymagic, if you're interested in buying a special gift for your own children. Love!

Rock, Baby Rock!

Yes, I know, my kids have well outgrown their sleeping bags, cots and bumpers, but that doesn't mean to say that I can't appreciate an original range of baby bedding when I see one...

If you happen to be in Paris this Summer make sure you visit Serendipity,  no matter how old your children are (the display of vintage toy beds looks to be worth the trip if you ask me...). The much-loved team behind No. 74 have been invited to exhibit for two months, adding their own contemporary touch to this must-visit French kids' design shop.

Of course, if you can't get there in person, Serendipity also sell online and have created a special showcase for their guest exhibitor's work in their bilingual e-boutique.

Rock, Baby Rock ... mmm, I wouldn't mind some of those embroidered linen pillows and a steel rack myself...

S for...

S for Soaring temperatures, Stifling heat  & Mister Softie!

Another super model from

High Five #28

Today I am feeling inspired by the pretty patterns and colour palette I found in Romanian illustrator and jewelry maker Cristina Barsony's portfolio. I love the movement in the top and bottom picture, and her work makes me want to sit down in a field of wild flowers and paint. So delicate and sweet - it would be nice to see her illustrate a children's book...

Tout Vert

Green,
all green.
Now is the time to enjoy the garden.
Be quick,
before the sunshine burns all the colour away.
