Anna Backlund has just graduated from The HDK School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg, Sweden. I'd love to have seen her final show ...
As part of her Applied Arts Degree Anna worked on a ten-week wallpaper design project. The idea for her collection originated from a funny misunderstanding, a situation her young son had misinterpreted, giving rise to the "Stone and the Owl" story about two people sailing to Chile in a small boat to do some shopping. It takes a long time to sail to Chile from Sweden in a rowing boat so her imaginary tale begins at the start of the last century and ends in the present day. Anna's collection is based on a series of letters written by the adventurous pair and takes into account those left at home.
I love Anna's 3D boxes, shown above, and I'm pleased to see that she opened a small online shop selling her textile designs. Her work was recently exhibited at Upmarket and is currently on display at Naaskonsthantverk.
All she needs now is someone to spot her talent and produce her striking wallpaper designs like this lucky young lady!
Enjoy!
Wonderful! I'm entranced....you find the most amazing things!
