Inspiration: Penny's Quilt

I've been thinking about my favourite finds in 2010 and did intend to compile a 'best of'. However, I have discovered so many wonderful artists and beautiful things that it would be a shame to have to choose just a few. I have been 'revisiting' some of the artists and crafters I featured earlier on in the year and I'm forever inspired by their imagination and creativity. One such example is Bristol-based textile artist Penny Leaver Green whose work I featured just over a year ago

I have already drawn your attention to her fairytale "into the woods" series, which I love, so today I would like to highlight her handembroidered nursery rhyme quilt.

Have you ever seen such beautiful children's bedding I wonder? A true work of art, which  you can study in more detail here and here. What a wonderful present for a child, to be passed down from generation to generation.

Penny Leaver Green, somebody I'd love to meet, and one of my personal faves.

Wheel'em in!

Inspired by vintage toys and memories of treasured teddies, Sarah makes beautiful bags, animals and dolls using an old 1920's Singer treadle sewing machine.
Her gorgeous antique looking bear, elephant and fox terrier were stitched, stuffed and hand dyed before being gently baked in the oven! Sarah sands her "dolls" to create a careworn look and hand finishes each unique toy using antique boot button eyes, vintage mother of pearl buttons and often a rusty bell.
Check out her Folksy shop Northfield Primitives for more examples of her past and present work.

Pi'lo

Que du bonheur!

Heather Shaw has got it right!

I came across Pi'lo a while ago and I'm really impressed by this Toronto-based company's selection of products for kids and adults alike.

I'm not sure whether you'll be able to read this quote, but it pretty well sums up Heather's philosophy, and I love it!

Beautiful, stylish accessories for the home
Whites and creams, linen, cotton and hemp

Poetry for babies and children every day

Heather has an etsy shop and an inspiring blog, I'm sure you'll appreciate both!
