Rosie Flo

Rosie Flo fans will be pleased to know that Roz Streeten has added some new posters and a fun sticker book to her already impressive collection. Rosie Flo and Johnny Joe now have their own fold-out house poster and a fun Christmas colouring poster. I really like the look of the Christmassy one, a perfect activity for kids during the school holiday and a great present for the big day!

Available from Rosie Flo stockists (LFG in France) and Amazon.

Polly's Wreath

This beautiful Shaker 'gift drawing' entitled "Wreath brought by Mother's little dove "by Polly Collins (1801-1884) is available in small poster format ( 12" x 13") from the Hancock Shaker Village site for the price of $10.
If you're interested in finding out more about gift drawings and Shaker art, why not treat yourself to this?

After thought

I realised last night that I'd forgotten to include Cecilia's beautiful thaumatrope in my previous post.

Cecilia designed this craft sheet for the new-to-me Argentinian magazine Chikismiqui (issue # 4) to which I will be subscribing.

The magazine features the work of talented female artists, illustrators and photographers from around the world. It comes out every two months and three-issue international subscriptions are available. Back issues are also online for you to browse for free.

All four issues that I've seen have a wonderful craft activity for children such as Cecilia's thaumatrope (#4) and these paper dolls by Simone Mendes

I think my favourite has to be this little paper carousel by Maria Cecilia Martinez ( Por Yoliwood) in issue 1. Completely irresistible, I could frame it just like that!

So, my first post of the day. After Morning Coffee and Ursonate and Apple Juice and Yabloki, this one just has to be Chicory and Chikismiqui!

Thaumatropes are back!

I don't know if you've noticed but thaumatropes are enjoying a comeback. I've come across some really nice versions of this Victorian spinning toy recently and thought it would be a nice opportunity to introduce you to some lovely artists' work and websites.

Thaumatropes make lovely party bag and stocking-fillers. You could also have a go at making one of your own following these instructions from the V&A Museum of Childhood.

*Chloe's etsy shop coming soon.
